Bravely Second in Development for Nintendo 3DS
Bravely Default after much tribulation was finally released this year in North America by Nintendo. The world-wide success of this title has definitely been a learning experience for Square-Enix showing how traditional RPG elements is all their fans have wanted from this genre defining company. Keeping very true to the early Final Fantasy games with the job system, character design, and graphical style, Bravely Default restored a bit of faith in a company that seems have lost their way over the last decade, but Square-Enix has quickly began working on a sequel titled, Bravely Second, for the 3DS.
The sequel takes place only a few years after the first game featuring Agnes from the original. Fans will be happy to see that everything that they love from Bravely Default has been retained. The hand-drawn backgrounds are as stunning as ever and the environments in the sequel are even more detailed creating a more immersive world. The character animations have been enhanced graphically and look better this time around. More enemies have been added to the open world and dungeons allowing for more encounters and making leveling up your characters easier. A new wizard class has been added to the job system. The wizard comes equipped with a new type of spell that uses two different types of magic in one spell. This will be very useful due to combatants magic immunities throughout the game or better yet, it is finally possible to heal a party member and do damage in a single turn. RPG gods be praised!
The repetition of Bravely Default was one of its only flaws and the developer is hoping to correct this in sequel. Square-Enix has also stated that they want to concentrate more on the story in Bravely Second once again keeping true to traditional Final Fantasy games where story used to be king.
This sequel is one to keep your eye on in 2015. There has been no announcement as to whether Square-Enix or Nintendo of America will be bringing this title to the West. However, with the numbers that the original produced it is unlikely that they will let Nintendo reap all the benefits of this guaranteed hit.
