Diablo 3 Reaper of Souls Patch 2.0: aka Do-Over
Diablo 3 Reaper of Souls Patch is right around the corner and Blizzard loyalists are returning in flocks to prepare for the upcoming expansion. After many hours, (okay maybe days), of gameplay it was clear to me that Blizzard has finally hit the nail on the head and given Diablo fans the 3rd installment of this franchise that they have been waiting for all along. The gameplay remains mainly the same but the structure of the game has been completely revamped and what once felt like a World of Warcraft/Diablo hybrid now plays and feels like a true Diablo sequel. Once again Diablo has come back to its roots, which is a hack and slash game to grind for gear.
With the Diablo 3 Reaper of Souls Patch 2.0 comes many changes including a new smart loot system. This new system not only has revamped all the loot, but now almost all the loot that drops will be usable for your toons class. The stats on the gear has also been upgraded creating a huge dps and health boost which seems to be needed for the upcoming expansion. When WoW: Wrath of the Lich King was released, players saw their HP go from 20k to 200k and Reaper of Souls also seems to be following this model. Upon playing the new patch my barbarian jumped from 27k health to 140k in a matter of four days. One of the wizards in my guild after acquiring some legendary items is now at 168k dps which shows the extreme difference in stats that the upcoming expansion is going to require.
This patch includes most of the changes that will occur in Reaper of Souls but many of these features won’t be unlocked until March 25th. These features include many different modes such as Adventure mode which gives players a different option versus the story mode that we have all played countless times through. Those that want to stick to story mode though will have a very lengthy Act V to go through as well. The old difficulty levels have been removed and replaced with five new ones. The last difficulty level, torment, has a slider bar to increase its difficulty six levels that way you are able to continue to increase your difficulty upon obtaining better gear.
With a little over week to go before Reaper of Souls is released, players continue to flock back to this explosive franchise to gear up for the expansion. Blizzard is also offering double xp till March 25th to encourage players to come back or reroll new toons now that they have “fixed” the game. With the complete remodel of the game and the auction house shutting down on March 18th, Reaper of Souls has finally become a real Diablo game. They really should have called the expansion Diablo 3 Reaper of Souls Patch: aka, Do Over.
