The Halo Spartan Strike Delay
Another Victim of Halo: The Master Chief Collection
The continuous inability of 343 Industries to fix the matchmaking issues on Halo: The Master Chief Collection has caused the company to halt all other projects until this landmark title has been repaired. Besides the Halo Championship Series being delayed multiple weeks after release, now 343 Industries is delaying their first game after Halo: MCC became an all hands on deck situation. On December 5th an announcement through Halo Waypoint and Twitter announced that “the release of Halo SS has been moved to early 2015. We can’t wait to show you more of Halo SS early next year.” The game is a touch-based top-down shooter designed for all Windows 8 platforms and Steam set to be released this holiday season. So now this is the fifth Halo game that has fallen victim to MCC being broken upon release (if you count Master Chief Collection as four) and the Halo Spartan Strike delay is causing havoc.
Fans have been in an outrage since the Halo Spartan Strike delay announcement and have been all over the forums throwing a lot of negative feedback towards 343 Industries. Unfortunately, this is deserved criticism to some degree and Halo fans are starting to tire of the mistreatment of franchise. Spartan Strike is not a popular enough title to incite the amount of negative feedback that 343 Industries is receiving and much of this is misdirected anger. Halo deserves better.
An exact release date for Spartan Strike will be revealed once The Master Chief Collection has finally been completed and is functioning at 100 percent. However, the more pressing question still remains. Will these delays for the Halo: MCC cause Halo 5 to be delayed much further into 2015 or maybe until early 2016? No one is asking this question even though it has an obvious answer. Yes, most likely. This is not a bad idea though because if this past month has been any preview of what to expect with Halo 5: Guardians then taking some more time to polish the game is a no brainer. If Halo 5 doesn’t have a flawless release that is playable on launch it would be a critical blow to the franchise. Credibility is very important in the gaming community and 343 Industries is running out of chances.
