Destiny: The Queens Wrath Event and Patch
One of the main concerns when launching a new MMO is whether there will be enough end game content to keep players interested. Destiny currently only has one raid available at this time on Venus (Vault of Glass) and one other high level strike mission. Bungie, however, has continued to add events and certain end game achievements to continue expanding the Destiny experience. Patch 184.108.40.206 was released yesterday addressing a few issues and nerfing a few heroic strike missions. Along with the patch came the addition of the Queens Wrath event which will be available for the next two weeks. This event introduces a new set of bounties titled Reef bounties which will change each day. Completing these bounties will give you Queen’s Favor reputation allowing you to buy special limited-time items from the new vendor located in the tower specifically for this event. The Queen’s Emissary (which is what the new vendor is called) is located a little further past the regular bounty vendor in a part of the tower previously locked before the Queens Wrath event.
Besides being able to purchase items from the new vendor, players that complete these new bounties will unlock new level 24 missions. These missions are epic in difficulty, causing the enemies to be shielded and highly aggressive. After completing these new missions certain rewards become available including legendary armor pieces as well as a new ship entitled “Changing Infinity.” These items are purple in color with the Queen’s personal seal graphed on the surface in yellow. While the armor pieces use a lot of the same designs as other legendary gear the color scheme really set these new pieces of gear apart from the rest.
Patch 220.127.116.11 which was released in conjunction with this new event nerfing several Heroic Strike missions to make them easier for players to manage. Also, certain bugs in Vault of Glass were addressed. Lastly, for all those hunters grinding Future War Cult reputation only to purchase gear that is not able to be upgraded due to the Ascendant Mote typo, this minor issue has also been handled. While not a huge addition to the end game it is promising to see Bungie continuing to provide new content this early since Destiny’s release. The Queens Wrath event will be ending on October 6th so get to work Guardians because there is no time to waste
