Swtor – Shadow of Revan Expansion
BioWare’s ongoing support for Star Wars: The Old Republic continues with the recent announcement of their third digital expansion, Shadow of Revan. Revan was a hero in the Jedi Civil War and after being broken out of the Emperor’s Maelstrom Prison he took control of “The Foundry.” Here he engineered a droid army to eliminate the Sith. Revan lost the Foundry to the Imperials, but escaped and formed an extremist group called the “Revanites.” In the Shadow of Revan Expansion, the Sith and the Jedi must join forces in all-out war to stop these Revanites from trying to bring about the apocalypse and destroying the universe.
The Shadow of Revan Expansion will be available on December 9th and you can pre-order your copy now at http://www.swtor.com/shadow-of-revan. Those that pre-order their copy before December 1st will receive a 12x experience boost up to level 55. The level cap will be raised to 60 with the coming expansion and this XP boost will allow serious raiders to grind through the story and class missions faster without having to bother with the random side missions. Casual players and those more interested in experiencing all of BioWare’s great storytelling will also be benefitted by this bonus, making the grind to 60 that much easier. Those that Pre-Order before November 2nd will be given a 7 day early access period starting December 2nd. So don’t hesitate to pre-order if you are a fan of this series or on launch day you will already be a week behind. Other pre-order bonuses include a Grand Statue of Revan for players to display in their strongholds and the first digital expansion Rise of the Hutt Cartel.
The level cap increase is just one of the new features in this upcoming expansion. New High-Level Flashpoints and Operations will be added, as well as new gear and reputation awards. Among these reputation awards are new mounts, crafting schematics, Revanite gear, and armored vehicle transports. New abilities have been added to each class to be unlocked on your journey to level 60 and the Discipline system has been completely reworked. This is a major change to the class systems as the skill trees have been discarded and a tier system is being introduced. Each advanced class gets a choice of one of three Disciplines to choose from and your abilities are included in those tiers. Much like the Mists of Pandoria expansion for World of Warcraft, the choice to get rid of the talent trees spawned from the need to consolidate the many skills bloating them and to also help with class balancing.
After six years, BioWare’s MMORPG still has a solid following and are being rewarded with the continued expansion of the Star Wars: The Old Republic storyline. For those that have been away from Swtor and are thinking of returning this is the perfect time to jump back in and defend the universe against the Revanites and their maniacal leader.
