Ultra Street Fighter IV: Uppercuts Its Way Into Arcades April 17th
Red focus your Chi Street Fighters, because the most anticipated fighting game of the year, Ultra Street Fighter IV will be released in arcades in less than a week. Even though this is a new version of Super Street Fighter IV, many are viewing this as a true sequel to the series. Therefore, even the top players around the globe are looking to switch up their mains for the upcoming tournaments and the future tournament seasons. To assist with this, the new patch notes have been released for the arcade release. Whether this will be the same patch notes that we will see on the console version is yet to be determined.
In addition to the anticipation and after nearly a year of hype of a 5th mystery character for Ultra Street Fighter IV Capcom unveiled Decapre at an exhibition event called Final Round XVII in Atlanta, Georgia. Combofiend has released a video showing off her Strider-like ultra as well as a few of her unique combos. Decapre, looks like a Cammy clone and quite frankly that is exactly what she is. Technically, Decapre is one of M. Bison’s dolls and hence, a Cammy clone since Cammy used to be Bison’s original bodyguard. Decapre and M. Bison’s dolls have been mentioned in other forms of media in the Street Fighter Universe, but similar to Gouken, (who arrived in Super Street Fighter IV), has never been playable until now. Similar to Evil Ryu and Oni even though they look similar and have some familiar moves once you delve into the move list of Decapre you notice that she has a lot of mix-ups and many different options than her British host. Capcom has also stated that Decapre is still only about 85% complete so I am sure that there will be many changes and tweaks that will
occur over the coming months before the release date. While it is a strange move for Capcom to not have released a more unique character, (if nothing else just for fan service), it does seem like a logical choice for them. Since all the new characters have their character models already designed from current games and SFxTekken, having a cloned character is easier to implement into the game even if Decapre has been met with very mixed reviews.
